The Republic of Vunania is a very large, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its infamous sell-swords, compulsory vegetarianism, and compulsory military service. The hard-working population of 107 million Vunanians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The tiny government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Defense, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 7.7%.

The strong Vunanian economy, worth 5.66 trillion Vans a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Basket Weaving industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Gambling, and Woodchip Exports. Average income is 52,877 Vans, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 174,505 per year while the poor average 11,988, a ratio of 14.6 to 1.

Foreign livestock are offered asylum, rebuilding efforts for a recently destroyed cathedral aren't expected to be completed for another century, illegal hunting is rife after veganism was recently made compulsory, and anti-riot police are dispatched whenever two elderly ladies gather to complain that prices have increased. Crime is a problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Vunania's national animal is the horse.

Vunania is ranked 74,138th in the world and 1,468th in The East Pacific for Highest Disposable Incomes, with 48,805.58 Standard Monetary Units.
