The Empire of Veremur is a gargantuan, orderly nation, ruled by Damien Koschei with an iron fist, and remarkable for its deadly medical pandemics, flagrant waste-dumping, and compulsory military service. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical, humorless, devout population of 34.889 billion Veremurians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The tiny, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government is dominated by the Department of Defense, with Spirituality and Law & Order also on the agenda, while Environment and Education receive no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sang City. Income tax is unheard of.
