Armed Forces of The Filippinas - Defense Budget and Information (WIP)
"The Armed Forces of The Filippinas (AFF) is the defending arm of the state. It serves as the protector of the nation and people. It is responsible with guarding and defending the independence and sovereign territory of The Filippinas. It shall be the most important organ of the state." Article V, Section I - Constitution
According to the constitution, the national defense and security of the country is the foremost priority of the government of The Filippinas and it is therefore mandated by law to prioritize the military's needs above all other sectors of the government. The Filippinas' defense budget roughly makes up more than 18% of the country's total government spending which amounts to an enormous B$ 89,000,000,000,000. This allows The Filippinas to acquire and upgrade its assets and effectively pay its soldiers which keeps its armed forces up-to-date and its soldier's spirits high.
The Filippinas enforces a mandatory conscription law requiring Pinasan men and women, who are literate and sane, aged 18-25, to render personal military service and serve in the armed forces for 3 years. After their service ends, they may continue their military career or return back to a normal civilian life but will stay as a reservist. This reservist pool of citizens can be called up in times of war or national emergency. This gives a huge manpower boost to the military and as it stands, The Filippinas can mobilize millions of its citizens for active duty in case of national emergency.
The Pinasan military continues to grow its own local defense manufacturing capabilities in order to effectively supply the armed forces in times of peace and war. The Pinasan National Arsenal handles the administering of state-owned and private defense companies. These defense companies produce jobs for Pinasans who make ammunition, weapons, armored vehicles, aircraft, and naval vessels for the Pinasan military or sell equipment to other foreign allies of The Filippinas. It also provides subsidies to arms industries and defense companies to propel them and increase production of armaments.
