The Capitalist Alliance of The-CID is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by CID with an even hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls, anti-smoking policies, and sprawling nuclear power plants. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, devout population of 28.935 billion CIDians are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The minute government, or what there is of one, is effectively ruled by the Department of Industry, with Defense and Welfare not funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Saint-CID. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient CIDian economy, worth an astonishing 10,644 trillion Golden Shares a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Retail. Average income is an amazing 367,891 Golden Shares, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,453,461 per year while the poor average 63,043, a ratio of 23.1 to 1.

Photos of picturesque coastal buildings are set against a backdrop of smokestacks and ship hulls, the "war on terror" doesn't seem to be making CIDians any less frightened, diplomats shake hands with their right and hide a poison dagger in their left, and only the rich can afford the latest medical innovations. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. The-CID's national animal is the Prancing Horse, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Roman Catholic Church.

The-CID is ranked 86,562^nd in the world and 108^th in Capitalist Paradise for Lowest Crime Rates, with 64.5 Law-abiding Acts Per Hour.
