The United Kingdom of Tara and Cambray is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by Téa VI with a fair hand, and remarkable for its frequent executions, digital currency, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 2.034 billion Cambrians are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The relatively small government prioritizes Industry, with Education and Defense also on the agenda, while Spirituality and International Aid receive no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Saint Josalyn. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 9.5%.

The frighteningly efficient Cambrian economy, worth 226 trillion marks a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with significant contributions from Book Publishing, Retail, and Tourism. Black market activity is notable. Average income is an impressive 111,257 marks, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 326,932 per year while the poor average 29,828, a ratio of 11.0 to 1.

Newspapers are running a front-page picture of Téa VI holding a crowbar and standing over a bloodied stockbroker, citizens are regularly found digging for treasure in their gardens, shivering secretaries type letters under torrential downpours in open-roof offices, and the recently unemployed can often be seen at the local homeless shelter. Crime, especially youth-related, is a major problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Tara and Cambray's national animal is the lion, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Cambrian Orthodoxy.

Tara and Cambray is ranked 171,349th in the world and 76th in Eurth for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 142.79 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
