The Peoples Kingdom of Sonsidia is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by King Arthur McDouglas with an iron fist, and renowned for its lack of airports, rampant corporate plagiarism, and stringent health and safety legislation. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 1.893 billion Sonsidones are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The large, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government is primarily concerned with Defense, although Law & Order, Administration, and Industry are also considered important, while Social Policy and International Aid aren't funded at all. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Nova Kregecia. The average income tax rate is 69.2%.

The frighteningly efficient Sonsidian economy, worth 281 trillion Sonsidian Dollars a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, quite specialized black market in Arms Manufacturing, Automobile Manufacturing, Gambling, and Uranium Mining. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 148,701 Sonsidian Dollars, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.6 times as much as the poorest.

Flatulent people are left to die of cancer at the end of hospital waiting lists, it's considered a valid legal defence to say "a demon made me do it", tens of thousands of Sonsidones rock the night away at the annual SuperLob, and the nation's government buildings are remarkable for being ugly concrete boxes. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sonsidia's national animal is the Sonsidian Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution, and its national religion is Arthurism.
