The Armed Republic of Soldats is a massive, safe nation, ruled by Erich Fritz Emil Mielke with an iron fist, and notable for its state-planned economy, punitive income tax rates, and stringent health and safety legislation. The cynical population of 3.318 billion Soldatsians are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defense, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zurich. The average income tax rate is 77.0%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The strong Soldatsian economy, worth 241 trillion Deutsche Marks a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. High-income earners pay a 100% tax rate, the cruise missile launchers on the field hospital roof are purely deterrent in purpose, the government is proud to report that ten percent of all tax revenue goes to funding suspected terrorist organizations, and murderers frequently escape punishment by claiming they were protecting their honour. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Soldats's national animal is the Bullmoose, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Erich Fritz cult and pop shop.
