The Kingdom of Solarball is a huge, cultured nation, renowned for its avant-garde cinema and compulsory military service. The hard-nosed, cynical, devout population of 398 million Solarballians are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The relatively small, corrupt, well-organized government prioritizes Defense, with Education, Law & Order, and Welfare also on the agenda, while International Aid and Spirituality receive no funds. The average income tax rate is 15.5%.

The sizeable but inefficient Solarballian economy, worth 21.6 trillion euros a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Basket Weaving industry, with major contributions from Arms Manufacturing, Gambling, and Uranium Mining. State-owned companies are common. Average income is 54,351 euros, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.1 times as much as the poorest.

Over a third of the seats in sports stadiums have been removed to make room for female-only commodes, Red Cross demand for body bags is rising while sutures go unused, citizens are prohibited from raising their voice above thirty decibels in commercial districts, and war vets look after war animals. Crime, especially youth-related, is almost non-existent. Solarball's national animal is the sea turtle.
