The Kingdom of Skjolva is a very large, safe nation, renowned for its flagrant waste-dumping. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 193 million Skjolvans are effectively ruled by a group of massive corporations, who run for political office and provide their well-off citizens with world-class goods and services. Their poorer citizens, however, are mostly starving to death while being urged to go out and get real jobs. The populace has reasonably extensive civil rights, although these are mostly aimed at allowing them to buy whatever they like.

The relatively small, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Industry. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 18.0%.

The powerhouse Skjolvan economy, worth 13.3 trillion viks a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Retail, Information Technology, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales. Average income is 69,012 viks, but there is a significant disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 195,737 per year while the poor average 19,442, a ratio of 10.1 to 1.

The Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy, drivers regularly pull over for nonexistent police cars, homeowners are evicted to make way for new runways, and a widely accepted trade policy is "tit-for-tat". Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Skjolva's national animal is the boar, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
