The Republic of Senegal is a gargantuan, orderly nation, ruled by Macky Sall with an iron fist, and notable for its free-roaming dinosaurs, daily referendums, and pith helmet sales. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 19.139 billion Senegalese are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, corrupt, socially-minded morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Policy, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Dakar. The average income tax rate is 90.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The powerhouse Senegalian economy, worth a remarkable 1,632 trillion Francs a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, highly specialized black market in Book Publishing, Uranium Mining, Automobile Manufacturing, and Tourism. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 85,307 Francs, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.4 times as much as the poorest.

Every day has been a surprise since weather reporters turned to consulting ancient totems for their seven-day forecasts, the government advises foreign diplomats to speak softly and carry a big bag of cash, wrongful arrests abound as 'criminals' blame the guy next to them, and crime suspects are forced to submit to blood testing. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Senegal's national animal is the Lion, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Sufism.

Senegal is ranked 262,536th in the world and 33rd in Testregionia for Largest Retail Industry, scoring -16.55 on the Shrinkwrap Consignment Productivity Index.
