The compassionate, devout population of 1.453 billion Saltenseses are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

Residential tower blocks are surrounded by warrens of concrete tunnels, soldiers have swapped their uniforms for prisonwear, the logging industry is celebrating as tourists plaster Saltolandia with trees, and Saltolandia has become a gigantic dustbowl filled with tourists and mean desperados. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Saltolandia's national animal is the Shima Enaga, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Cristianismo.
