The compassionate, democratic population of 1.704 billion Oazians hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The medium-sized, liberal government juggles the competing demands of Education, Industry, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Port Meza. The average income tax rate is 41.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Red Oazisian economy, worth 184 trillion cingus a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, quite specialized black market in Retail, Information Technology, Tourism, and Soda Sales. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 108,158 cingus, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

One complaint of Red Oazis's new periodic table is it's easy to confuse fearlessleaderium with gloriousleaderium, politicians demand do-overs when they don't agree with election outcomes, tourists need only sign on the dotted line to become citizens, and belligerent citizens shoot at passing clouds for 'violating their airspace'. Crime, especially youth-related, is a major problem, probably because of the absence of a police force. Red Oazis's national animal is the desert monkey, which is also the nation's favorite main course.
