The Democratic Peoples Republic of Proletaire is a gargantuan, safe nation, renowned for its museums and concert halls, state-planned economy, and frequent executions. The compassionate, democratic population of 19.173 billion Proletairians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, liberal, socially-minded, outspoken morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Welfare, and Environment. The average income tax rate is 99.2%.

The enormous but underdeveloped Proletairian economy, worth a remarkable 1,373 trillion credits a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector is solely comprised of the Book Publishing industry. Average income is 71,613 credits, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

In musicals everybody's a little bit racist, tourists outnumber citizens two to one, pedal-powered removal vans are a popular Maxxmas gift for the children of separated parents, and military strategists are questioning the wisdom of subsidizing the economies of sworn enemies. Crime is totally unknown. Proletaire's national animal is the gyrfalcon, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Proletaire is ranked 13,103rd in the world and 26th in The Internationale for Highest Economic Output, with 1,373 trillion Standard Monetary Units.
