The United Socialist States of North Acren is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Alexandr Sterkovic with an iron fist, and notable for its keen interest in outer space, pith helmet sales, and frequent executions. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 5.759 billion Acrenese are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The large, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government is primarily concerned with Defense, although Law & Order and Education are also considered important. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Trekograd. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 70.0%.

The powerhouse North Acrenian economy, worth 739 trillion Rubles a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. Foreign heads of state have taken out restraining orders against North Acrenian ambassadors, truancy officers have a hard time catching children trained in advanced camouflage skills, school children are forced to sing the national anthem every morning, and property owners are terrified of pigeons nesting in their buildings. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. North Acren's national animal is the Bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is Russian Orthodox.
