The Democratic People's Republic of New Moravia is a gargantuan, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Nerys Broughton with an iron fist, and renowned for its smutty television, anti-smoking policies, and restrictive gun laws. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 38.86 billion New Moravians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government is dominated by the Department of Defense, with Industry, Administration, and Environment also on the agenda, while Social Policy is ignored. The frighteningly efficient New Moravian economy, worth a remarkable 7,954 trillion broken dreams a year, is driven almost entirely by government activity, with private enterprise illegal. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. New Moravia's national animal is the dragon, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its national religion is Misanthropism.
