The Republic of MegaTokyo-3 is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, prohibition of alcohol, and national health service. The hard-nosed, humorless population of 46.964 billion Meganians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The minute, socially-minded government, or what there is of one, is primarily concerned with Education, although Law & Order is also considered important, while Spirituality and International Aid are ignored. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient Meganian economy, worth an astonishing 24,338 trillion nu-yen a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Book Publishing, Woodchip Exports, and Automobile Manufacturing. State-owned companies are common. Average income is a breathtaking 518,239 nu-yen, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The mood of raunchy movies is often ruined by the sound of babies crying, it is illegal for police officers to carry out searches due to strict privacy laws, taxpayer money is hard at work exorcizing laundry, and Scoutmasters debate whether luxury log cabins defeat the purpose of camping. Crime, especially youth-related, is so common that it is unusual to encounter someone following the law, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. MegaTokyo-3's national animal is the dove, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to toxic air pollution.
