The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 10.189 billion Lordellesians are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The large, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Thebes. The average income tax rate is 93.2%, and even higher for the wealthy.

Young children are regularly seen wagering pocket money at blackjack tables, the government is constantly producing new maps to accommodate the continual renaming of cities, the once prosperous capital is in utter decline, and former bars are desperately trying to re-brand themselves as cafés. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Lordelles's national animal is the wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
