The Red and Gold Republic of Llorens is a colossal, genial nation, ruled by President Sofia Vusmein with a fair hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls, daily referendums, and complete lack of prisons. The compassionate, democratic, cheerful population of 6.417 billion Llorenians are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whomever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded, outspoken morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Environment, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Zexaro. The average income tax rate is 99.9%.

The frighteningly efficient Llorenian economy, worth a remarkable 1,067 trillion llorenÁs a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is highly specialized, is mostly made up of the Book Publishing industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology and Cheese Exports. Average income is an impressive 166,364 llorenÁs, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Ersatz chicken has left the nation's citizens with a bad taste in their mouths, President Sofia Vusmein's exquisite office door is replaced monthly due to angry petitioners, they say that Llorenians made a dessert and called it peace, and pretending to be prejudiced is a good way to get out of jury duty. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Llorens's national animal is the loquito, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.

Llorens is ranked 349th in the world and 2nd in The Leftist Assembly for Largest Welfare Programs, scoring 15,929.97 on the Safety Net Mesh Density Rating.
