The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 2.41 billion Lengelt-Abysselians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The Communist Party claims that selling things for profit isn't necessarily capitalism, the importance of winning Olympic gold medals is indoctrinated from an early age, half-submerged and flooded seaside hotels are technically still next to the beach, and it's a long jump to get onto the housing ladder. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Lengelt-Abysselia's national animal is the abyss wyvern, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Abyssal church.
