The Protectorate of Large Ladz is a colossal, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its parental licensing program, ban on automobiles, and irreverence towards religion. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 7.128 billion Laarg Ladzians are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, corrupt, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ladzvill. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 76.4%.

The large but underdeveloped Large Ladzian economy, worth 320 trillion Organs a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, highly specialized black market in Trout Farming, Uranium Mining, and Arms Manufacturing. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Large Ladz's national animal is the Wood Tic, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
