The Traveler States of Kita-Hinode, commonly called Kita-Hinode or simply Hinode, is a Constitutional Monarchy located in a separate realm, albeit with a gateway to Esportiva. The Hinodejin Empire covers LAND AREA square kilometres and has an estimated population of 575 million humans, humanoids and other sorts of living beings. It also comprises of NUMBER SUBDIVISIONS and NUMBER TERRITORIES.
The Hinodejin prefer to act as watchers instead of an active force, although recent endeavours point to a more active Empire, albeit not with its' old goals of achieving peace via force.
The name Kita-Hinode stands for Sunrise of the North in the nation's native language of Japanese, a name that hasn't changed even after expansion towards other parts of the realm. According to the nation's origins, the name actually reflects one of the nations whose people would later arrive at the stretch of land that would form Kita-Hinode.
The standard way to refer to a citizen of Kita-Hinode is as a "Hinodejin."
Hinodejin mythology refers to the foundation of Kita-Hinode as a rather complex process where a massive group of people travelled from their home dimension to a new realm. According to legend, they had to pick a select group of people known as "The Champions" and those had to survive a series of five challenges in order for them not to be wiped out by the figure that controlled the realm, a being solely known as Arceus. Not all the champions managed to survive and although the information of the failed nations had apparently been wiped together with their existence, it is known that the survivors were granted stronger powers.
Kita-Hinode was officially established in this new realm in the year of 2022 under Queen Hina, descendant of one of the Champions who also happened to be a Queen herself who managed to beat the final challenge but didn't survive longer after that. Another champion that would outlast the challenges but passed away from injuries named the capital of the new state, Hokuto. The lands would be fully mapped and divided in eleven states. These eleven would be known as Ainushima, Burakuriri, Kameria, Kuroba, Nashihana, Sakurahana, Somei-Yoshino, Sudachi, Tsutsuji, Uchina and Ume-Aburana; the division being based after the surviving nations.
After eighteen years, Hinodejin settlers noticed fertile land to the west of the mainland and, amidst to lack of interest by the then-aging monarch Hina, worked towards settling new towns. The city of Kazama would be founded in the year 2040, later serving as the main city of the Territory of Kazama. In 2052, a teenage monarch Satomi would see the Territory be elevated to the nation's twelfth state.
The young Satomi would also see the nation dip into wars for the first time ever, which guaranteed the Hinodejin control over the Hinode Islands, guaranteeing safety for the nation, while additionally expanding after the frontier, first with the territory of Kurosawa and afterwards via conquering the five states of the Shiga Gulf (Giishiga, Penashiga, Taushiga, Okushiga and Jugishiga).
Expansion would continue in the following years as the Hinodejin entered the cold steppes far north and eventually moved south from the Shiga Gulf provinces, establishing colonies until hitting its' first possible opposition in the nation of Urran, whom they'd conquer. Not too long after, they formed an alliance with Hwangju, a failing nation who had long been on the losing end against its' neighbours, specially a very expansive nation by the south known as Meng.
The relation between Hinode and Hwangju would be advantageous for both nations: Hwangju got cornered in a war against several nations backed by Meng which would be won by the Hinodejin, the lands of the opponents eventually being divided by both nations while the Hinodejin used the Hwangju superior knowledge of cartography to establish colonies on lands that weren't occupied. Of note, states such as Mikai, Midori and Mizuno, lands picked specifically to attack the Meng Kingdom.
Queen Mai would become the leader of Kita-Hinode after Satomi passed away, introducing a much more forward stance towards annexation. Mai would marry the King of Hwangju and eventually turn the ally into a vassal, while expanding even farther to the South, introducing key colonies that would later join the nation such as Hinashima, Mikaya, Maniwa, Wataneshire, Javushi and Kitagaya.
Mai would also see Hwangju being annexed diplomatically and their efforts result in a massive Kingdom spanning from the far away islands of Honoshima to the near centre of the world at Sakumi-Bashia. Kita-Hinode would now find a new major ally in Midgard, a nation whose religion was similar to Arceusism had caused them to be targeted and eventually robbed of all their gold by Catholic nations. The Hinodejin took part in a war to grant them independence, however due to lack of funds, the Midgardians were turned into a vassal of Kita-Hinode with the creation of a Hinedojin outpost at their part of the world in the states of Harumi, Garonegawa and Honeyame.
