Election and political updates (!)

social democrats win!
After the economic disaster earlier that month, the democratic socialists lost an incredible amount of credibility. As a result, and despite the significantly lowered taxes, the Social democrats took the legislative Yuan and the position of President in a landslide. Privatisation has already begun, as the new northern of origin ideology bends Gretarian to its ideas. Over time, Democratic Socialists are faced with a difficult question, fight the Social Democrats against privatisation and risk the Totalists in gaining influence, or cooperate with the Social Democrats, making enemies of the Trade Unionists and Syndicalists.

A thin balance of compromise may be possible, justifies the Democratic Socialist leader.

Syndicalists, disgusted by the act of further compromise than they had already had to endure, withdraw themselves officially from the alliance.

Widespread protests!
"There is nothing more dangerous than a politically aware and an economically suffering populace towards a party's control over a country". The socialist party leader's words rang true this morning, as in the streets of all the major cities in Gretarian, masses flooded in to protest for fairer wages and the reversal of privatization efforts by the Social Democrats. The moment the privatization began wages plummeted to historical lows, and although initially unions held back on protesting as to not be seen as anti-democratic, last week's wage decreases across the board proved too much for the political will of the appeasing wing of the union leadership. Thousands marched in the streets of Nanjing and Shanghai, and more workers in the countryside joined the protests in solidarity over the use of illegal immigrants as laborers from North Admin Kylood.

The privatisation reforms enacted by the Social Democratic Party were incredibly successful in boosting Gretarian's economy making the technology sector the largest in the region. But due to the relaxation of labour protection laws and the privatization of some industries wages have plummeted in comparison to the wages awarded by worker cooperatives as companies look desperately to appeal to foreign investors by boosting profit margins.

Whether the Social Democrats will maintain their support remains to be seen, with some social democratic legislative members declaring the need to a moderation towards the policy. This question is especially crucial, with upcoming elections just around the corner...

Massacre!

As a response to the protests, Deng Xiaopeng ordered the quelling of the protests through the military something strongly opposed by but the legislative Yuan. Rumours have it that the totalists offered their own vast connections within the military to remove the party out of this sticky situation, but it appears to have made it worse. As tanks roll into the streets rocks, bricks and Molotovs are thrown at the soldiers wounding many and killing a few. In a panic, soldiers in Nanjing open fire, and several protesters are killed. Students charge armoured vehicles while chanting the Internationale as a response, but are too gunned down. What started as a situation over protest for wages has become a much deeper and more sinister situation than it had initially appeared.

This disaster has been completely ruinous for the Social Democrats, and as a result, Deng Xiaopeng resigned as President. A snap election has been called, with speculators predicting the Socialist party leader to take lead.

Socialist Reform!
A sweeping victory for the socialists!

As foreign investors clamber away from the chaotic Gretari state, questions arise from where new investment will come from, and what will continue Gretarian's incredible economic growth.

Plans are already being drawn out, states the official spokesperson of the Democratic Socialist party, with the employment levels in the lead of priorities.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Socialist choice as president is naturally the party Leader, Chairman Wang, who took the party by storm last year rapidly rising through the ranks inexplicably taking over the party leadership. His first major campaign has been on the hydration side, with a bland but efficient slogan of "Drink water" as the spearhead.

The future of Gretarian remains uncertain, but minds seem to work at top efficiency!
