The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless population of 974 million Gadyushnikas are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The "boy who cried wolf" policy makes sick people reluctant to call an ambulance, hospitals fear government fines more than terrorist ransoms, works of historical fiction contain a surprising lack of historical figures, and science centers and state of the art laboratories are ubiquitous. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Gadyushnika's national animal is the sheep, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests.
