The Empire of Estals is a colossal, efficient nation, ruled by Emperor Waryn with an iron fist, and renowned for its anti-smoking policies, enslaved workforce, and otherworldly petting zoo. The hard-nosed, cynical population of 9.468 billion Estalsians are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Colnt. The average income tax rate is 97.9%.

The frighteningly efficient Estalsian economy, worth a remarkable 1,653 trillion Rals a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Tourism, and Book Publishing. Average income is an impressive 174,678 Rals, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

There's nothing special about Emperor Waryn, children as young as twelve are conscripted into the armed forces, trains and passengers alike are often late, and sociologists can charge whatever fee they like as the nation tries to find itself. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Estals's national animal is the Wolf, which is also the nation's favorite main course.
