The Future of Better Times is a gargantuan, orderly nation, ruled by MrTimes with an iron fist, and remarkable for its ubiquitous missile silos, strictly enforced bedtime, and compulsory military service. The hard-nosed, cynical, humorless, devout population of 30.495 billion Better Timesians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The medium-sized, corrupt government prioritizes Education, with Industry, Administration, and Law & Order also on the agenda, while Spirituality and International Aid receive no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of TimesCity. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 30.4%.

The frighteningly efficient Better Timesian economy, worth a remarkable 5,218 trillion Euros a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is an enormous, deeply entrenched, fairly diversified black market in Uranium Mining, Information Technology, Soda Sales, and Pizza Delivery. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 171,120 Euros, but there is a large disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 736,991 per year while the poor average 25,351, a ratio of 29.1 to 1.

High school band practice is often crashed by technicolor-clad ravers, politicians preface their speeches with a declaration that any resemblance to speeches given by individuals living or dead is purely coincidental, young schoolchildren pledge allegiance to One Nation Under Bum Indivisible By Poo, and a serf by any other name works just as hard. Crime, especially youth-related, is pervasive, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Better Times's national animal is the Leeuw, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its national religion is Atheism.

Better Times is ranked 114,742nd in the world and 38th in Vlaanderen for Largest Cheese Export Sector, scoring 1,898.81 on the Mozzarella Productivity Index.
