The Spurious Dictatorship of Azilam is a gargantuan, cultured nation, notable for its state-planned economy, compulsory military service, and restrictive gun laws. The hard-nosed, humorless, devout population of 12.416 billion Azilamians are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively.

The large, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Administration, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Qaqenek. The average income tax rate is 64.8%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Azilamian economy, worth a remarkable 1,100 trillion Eetes a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, quite specialized black market in Soda Sales, Beef-Based Agriculture, Basket Weaving, and Trout Farming. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is 88,636 Eetes, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

The government confiscates candy from babies for 'the greater good' of the nation, Azilamian TV is considered cruel and unusual punishment in other countries, new funding allows inner city teachers to replace school laptops almost as fast as they get stolen, and asking 'a penny for your thoughts?' draws law enforcement response. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Azilam's national animal is the panther, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Azilam is ranked 228,180th in the world and 82nd in Montrandecs Neighbours for Fattest Citizens, with 8.61 Obesity Rate.
