The Imperial Republic of Ariosa is a colossal, efficient nation, ruled by Artiel Hesse with an even hand, and remarkable for its rum-swilling pirates, unlimited-speed roads, and multi-spousal wedding ceremonies. The hard-nosed, humorless population of 7.898 billion Ariosians are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The medium-sized, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defense, and Administration. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Polis. The average income tax rate is 67.6%, and even higher for the wealthy.

Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ariosa's national animal is the Hydra, which frolics freely in the nation's sparkling oceans, and its national religion is Humanism.
