America the Greater Historical Archive - Second Presidential Campaign Policy Breakdown - 2017
R/DOur regional history with raiding and defense has been very firmly focused on defense, due to the invasion of our region's predecessor. Our region must continue this path of defending those who have been similarly taken over by invading forces, and work with our allies to liberate regions in need. Further, the legacy of Solidarity shows the necessity for regions to begin rising to the challenge of providing stability for those recently liberated, through helping with measures like regional passwords, WA motions, and providing endorsements to keep the native delegate in power while the region rebuilds. This path will allow us to work toward the goal of keeping other regions from experiencing the upheaval which destroyed our own. Additionally, we must not fall to raiding, as so many defenders have. The anti-fascist movement may be a noble cause to some, but to begin raiding regions because we do not agree with them implies that we support raiding as a whole. Our region will not fall to hypocrisy in our attempts to aid everyone in need. We must, then, raise a defensive force and encourage participation in this force. Through our defenders, we can defend and liberate those in need, and grant forces to our allies for operations.
Embassy Requirements
Having helped write the original embassy policy, I see few changes that must be made to increase its effectiveness. However, we must remember that we as a region began small, reaching out to larger regions for aid and in hopes of finding new ways to run our government and to provide for our citizens. Our embassy policy and general diplomatic focus should reflect this; we must reach out to smaller regions and bring our citizens together. Through Discord and RMBs, we can further our communication with these regions, and give our citizens new people to talk to and exchange ideas with. Through this policy, we can aid other regions and help them grow to be powers dedicated as well to helping those in need. This policy should not be mistaken for our region exerting influence and dominance over other regions, however. We will seek not to change their policy through demands and threats. Rather, we will provide examples of what we have done, to help them find solutions to problems they may experience. Through this policy, we can aid others without becoming a detriment to their sovereignty.
Alliances
Our region must continue our path of participating in alliances. We have had a strong ally in FORGE since the day we joined them, and even before that, we had our allies in Sweden and the UDS by our side. Interregional alliances allow our region to grow closer to other regions and give us a common ground for our citizens and theirs to communicate. Through these alliances, each region gains new perspectives and has the ability to find like-minded regions and allies to defend with and to grow with. However, our alliances should be chosen carefully. The prevalence of larger regions seeking to influence our decisions and make demands of our citizens cannot be ignored, and it cannot be allowed to affect the way our government runs. Our region should seek to find other regions to grant us new ideas and the choice of making them policies. We cannot abide the forceful change of policy, especially not those which would hinder our citizens.
Culture/Presence
Our region has grown from a minor power, its only history a repealed SC resolution and a HYDRA trophy region, to one of the top 100 largest regions. Our history has grown to be defined by participation in defense, cooperation with our allies, and dedication to the ideas which make up our foundation. Our reputation has grown, and now the region stands as a role model to some, with its open government, its active member base, and its willingness to seek out new allies and friends to walk alongside us on our path. In only a year, our region has established a three-branch government with the ability for any citizen to become a member of our Parliament. We have encouraged communication through our Discord and RMB. We have grown to almost 200 regional citizens through these means. We must open ourselves to embassies and conversation with smaller regions, in the hopes of offering them our perspective and helping them to grow, as so many did for us. Our region must work to bring activity and experiences to the interregional community as a whole, and stand as a role model for those who wish to follow in our path. This path will not be marked by force or by aggression- rather, it will be marked by alliances and the development of our own ideals. Through this, our region may offer a lasting influence on those who wish to walk alongside us.
Growth/Government
Our region is experiencing a fluctuation in the rate of recruitment. For the first time in many months, the growth of our population has slowed. To improve this, we must seek to merge our Immigration ministry with the Domestic Affairs ministry, allowing us to focus our domestic policy and Minister of Domestic Affairs, as well as all Deputy Ministers of Domestic Affairs, on increasing this rate of recruitment. To do so, we must increase our regional activity. Our government must remain open, and our Parliament must expand to offer opportunities for all to join and create legislation to help shape the region. Additionally, we must bring citizens into our Discord server and welcome them to the conversation. Other activities, like our Steam group and regular discussion on the RMB and Discord, will be emphasized for the purpose of encouraging residents to enjoy the time they spend in our region. Through this heightened appeal, we can increase the rate of recruitment, and generally provide more for our citizens to experience and enjoy in our region. To augment this growth in activity, a new Deputy Minister of Domestic Affairs position, the Deputy Minister of Activity, will be introduced.
Effectiveness of Recruitment
To increase the effectiveness of our recruitment, we must focus on continuing to send out recruitment telegrams, and modify them to emphasize the opportunity and the experiences made possible through joining our region. Our recruitment should focus on the ability to meet people of similar minds, or even completely opposite opinions, to allow for discussion and friendship within our region. We must not forget our current citizens, however. New citizens will be more likely to join a region with many opportunities and with a populace which enjoys their time in the region, and wishes to continue participating. An unenthusiastic base of citizens will lead only to a sharp decline in our number of citizens, and will give no reason for new members to join. For these reasons, we must continue to provide for our current citizens, and emphasize activity, in our government and otherwise.
RP
Our roleplay is a dynamic world for citizens to take part in and enjoy. Since its conception it has enjoyed success and encouraged people to take part in our region and interact with each other in more ways. This roleplay should continue to exist and evolve through the addition of new members to take part. Our region should encourage more people to experience the roleplay and find a place in the political, military, and economic landscape it has created. We should also seek to archive events in this RP on our regional forum, for ease of access by our members and the added convenience of looking up posts from long ago. For the added activity it provides, our roleplay will also be given emphasis under the Ministry of Domestic Affairs, through the Deputy Minister of Activity position we will introduce. This Ministry will not seek to control the roleplay or force anyone into certain events, but rather will seek more efficient methods of hosting and archiving the roleplay, in addition to its normal role.
Future of Cabinet/Parliament/Judiciary
In the future, I hope to decrease the prominence of the Cabinet, and by extension, our government's executive branch. Through the introduction of the Parliament, we made our first steps toward reducing the power of the executive, but we must further emphasize our Parliament and seek to actively recruit citizens to join the legislature and craft legislation. To further this decreased focus on the Cabinet, as President, I will seek to recall all executive orders, instead passing them normally through our most representative branch, the Parliament. I will also actively refuse to exercise the veto power for legislation passed with a majority in Parliament. The Judiciary must also be emphasized, due to its importance in reviewing the Constitutionality of laws passed. The executive cannot overstep the limits it has been given, and must be under scrutiny, as must the rest of the government. Through these measures, we can ensure the citizens are given more power under the government.
Reducing Dependency of the Founder
Our region has been created in the vision of being able to sustain itself in a founderless state. Our government and its positions do not require the founder, and his inclusion in many administrations has been due only to his personal virtue. We must continue to shape the government in a way that can survive without our founder. For this purpose, we must continue to participate in defensive alliances and raise a defending force of our own, to defend our own region and to work with our allies to defend others in need as well. We must be prepared for the possibility of losing our founder, however unlikely it may seem. This defensive force and government will help to ensure our region can survive and continue to prosper even without our founder present.
