America the Greater Historical Archive - Presidential Campaign Policy Breakdown - 2017
Raiding and defense are sometimes difficult to distinguish, but an approach focused on defense is favorable. In our region, we should encourage defense and participation in our defensive forces, and take measures to ensure that our region stays away from official relationships with raider regions. However, individuals who have been raiders in the past should be granted more amnesty, allowed to join the region but not actively raid, without the privilege of joining our military. Our embassy requirements are well-developed as they stand, but as a region, we should strive to include smaller regions if we see a potential to help them grow and aid them in their development. Our alliances should be less focused on our own region and more focused on aiding the interregional community as a whole.
Participation in organizations is critical to ensuring our presence and reputation in the community. These also give opportunities for our citizens to meet new people and have generally better connections. Defensive alliances are also beneficial, especially in the case of Solidarity, because they allow our region to rebuild others and ensure their continued prosperity, rather than kicking out a few raiders and moving on.
Our region must establish an interregional presence, not to show our power and force, but to have a good name and bring new members in. Spreading our culture is less important than spreading our reputation as a long-standing, trustworthy region, open and free to participation for all who wish to join.
Domestic Policy
The region has experienced huge growth, catapulting us to relevance and even securing a rank in the top 100 largest regions. This growth must continue, and it must continue by the creation of new opportunities and increasing citizens' potential for participation. The government has an effective structure, but it must be able to expand and admit new citizens to craft their legislation and enjoy governing positions. This will ensure that we can not only work for our current citizens, but also grow to help future residents become comfortable with our system and truly become part of our region.
Recruitment for our region should outline the opportunities we have for new citizens, but also emphasize a welcoming environment. Our Discord server and RMB have much interaction on a daily basis, and this should be a part of our recruitment. Additionally, our recruitment messages should be unique and concise, without taking up too much space in an inbox. This will help us make a good impression and not drive nations away with large messages from just another region.
The roleplay, very simply, must be how the participants want it to be. Having a roleplay controlled by a small, elite governing power would simply keep new people from participating, with scenarios potentially seeming uninteresting. Roleplay should be a more democratic system, and should be accepting, allowing players new and experienced alike to join and enjoy the session.
The governmental branches must become more democratically controlled. Cabinet decisions have traditionally been on urgent matters or interregional issues, which has worked well. Expanding the executive branch's influence serves only to consolidate power, removing it from the hands of those it affects. The judiciary is vital, allowing a sensible overview of laws and ensuring we do not stray from our principles. Their influence should expand, and their power should extend to being able to weigh in on other issues like court cases and challenges to how laws are carried out. The legislative branch also should expand, and be as accepting as possible. This branch allows for the people to participate, and it should remain open and free to all citizens. Drafting legislation has mostly been done by the Cabinet or by a few citizens, though, necessitating a push to bring new people into the process of submitting laws to help the region grow. Additionally, the legislature should emphasize advisory or democratic committees for both foreign and domestic affairs, to allow for a review of major decisions by multiple people rather than one sole leader. This democratic, balanced system ensures that everyone can find a place, and all matters can be taken care of effectively.
The founder's personal influence and participation in regional activities should be neither encouraged nor discouraged. He is simply another person, and part of our democratic process. To reduce our dependency on him and his personal power, we have already started on the right track: bringing democracy and popular sovereignty, rather than any kind of monarchy or autocratic system. The founder has played a large role in bringing that to the region, and I am assured that he will not try to seize power.
