Industry of Cyparissa

In Cyparissa, small businesses are allowed but they must receive a license from the Department of Economy in order to operate. However, chains, corporations, add monopolies are outlawed in Cyparissa. Any chain or corporation must be owned by the Hexadepartmental Community (HDC) and operate with the best interest of the public, not making a profit.

Foreign industry is rare but allowed in Cyparissa. International companies must pass an ethical test in order to operate within our borders. They must also follow the Hexadepartmental Community's strict guidelines for running a foreign business in Cyparissa.

This Factbook aims to give a more detailed view of Cyparissa's economy by highlighting some of the most famous Cyparissa businesses; as well as giving examples of privately owned small businesses, HDC owned corporations, and foreign companies.

The Industry

Ownership: Department of Economy

Location: Multiple

The Industry is a large non-for-profit organization that is owned and operated by the Department of Economy. The Industry's main purpose is to manufacture everyday comfort items, from crayons to toys to kitchen good. They make stream-lined, branded and easily identifiable products that every home in Cyparissa uses.

Their logo is of a toy robot and their branding is a colorful-technology theme. They want to appeal to families and create a brand that is recognizable to adults and children alike. The robot in the logo is named Creever and acts as a mascot for The Industry.

Hou Yios

Ownership: The Onasis Family
Status: For-Profit Small Business
Location: Yarrow, Western Region

The Onasis family has been making bows and arrows for generations. They are considered to sell the finest archery materials in the nation and as such are recognized as one of the financial-powerhouses of Cyparissa. The Onasis family started making bows and arrows for the Phthia Kingdom in the old world, then founding the Hou Yios small business after Cyparissa was founded. The Huntsmen Corp uses Hou Yios equipment till this day.

The Hou Yios name is a slang term from a dialect spoken in the North-Eastern part of the country. It roughly translates to "descendants" and is meant to honor the teachings of the elders of the Onasis clan and the innovation of the younger generations. The logo for the business is of the Onasis Family Crest, featuring two of their signature heart-shaped arrows and a recurve bow.

Ktistia Tool Company

Ownership: The Marmaros Family
Status: For-Profit Company
Location: Cardamon, Central Region

The Ktistia people of the old kingdoms were known for their excellent tool making capabilities. It was this skill in fact that led to the peace treaty between them and the Queendom of the South. While many toolmakers still exist in the Central Region of Cyparissa today, The Marmaros family's Ktistia Tool Company is considered the best. They make several forms of tools, from stone cutting to crop harvesting. They partner with the Mrymidous Trading Co. to send their tools across the nation.

The logo of the Ktistia Tool Company is the tool-circle that was featured on the crest of the Ktisitia Kingdom.

The Mrymidous Trading Company

Ownership: The Mrymidous Family
Status: For-Profit Company
Location: Multiple warehouse locations, HQ out of Paeonia, Western Region

The Mrymidous Trading Company has been around since AC58 and has been the nation's leader in transportation of good across the country. They started by using armed horse drawn carriages, but now have switched to owning several freight trains to transport their items. The MTC partners with all kinds of local and small businesses to bring their products all across Cyparissa.

Their modern logo features a silhouette of a griffin playing a harp. The griffin and the harp have been symbols of the Mrymidous family since the time of the old kingdoms.

The Argosea Import Goods

Ownership: The Arco Clan Board of Directors
Status: For-Profit Company
Location: Dianthus, Western Region

The Argosea Import Goods Company is based out of Dianthus Settlement, where they have a warehouse, a storefront, and several docks for their trading ships. The Argosea is mainly responsible for trading with outside nations to bring foreign goods into Cyparissa. They work with the Department of Economy on trade deals with foreign powers and then bring the items into the nation. They are not allowed to transport any produce or animals however, and any wood products must go through a decontamination procedure before entering the country.

The Argosea Import Good Company logo is that of the Arco Ship, an ancient vessel used by the Arco Pirates in the times of the old kingdoms. It also features the waves of the sea that they travel upon.

Heca Corporation

Ownership: Individual Ownership, Kleisus Scythe/ The Department of Communications
Status: Nonprofit
Location: Temple of Brauron

Heca Corp. is one of the only corporations allowed in Cyparissa. They are funded by the Daughter of the Queen and as such the organization has claim to decisions made for the corporation. Since they are a corporation, the HDC also has ties to the group as they must oversee all aspects of operations. Heca Corp. is the forefront of technological innovation in Cyparissa. They popularly introduced the first home computer and now manufacture smartphones in Cyparissa.

They are currently working on their latest model of laptop: The Threshold. Their newest smartphone, The Kingdom Key (KK for short), came out earlier this year.

Their logo features twin moons of Artemis, symbolizing the twin Gods as well as female empowerment. It also shows circles of dots connected by a ring to represent individuals being connected by Heca Corp.

Pro Company

Ownership: Individual Ownership, Epimeth & Ora/ The Department of Communication
Status: Nonprofit
Location: Multiple Locations, HQ in Anthrodialu Bridge City

Pro Co. is one of the first foreign companies allowed in Cyparissa. They have had long standing bad-blood with Herclue Inc. ever since they electrified their railroads and almost put Hercule Inc. out of business. Pro Co., in partnership with the Department of Communication, is responsible for providing free electricity to all citizens of Cyparissa. They are also in charge of the electric-portion of railroad maintenance. In addition to all of this, they also produce the nation's light bulbs and other electronic components for manufacturing.

The Pro Co. logo features two humans standing on either side of an illuminated light bulb. The company is named after Prometheus, the God of fire. They believe their mission is to spread illumination across the world, one light bulb as a time.

Hyacinth Cafe

Ownership: Individual Owners, Rite Olyiay of the Hyacinthia Branch; Marcus Klados of the Keos Assembly Branch; Toffie Serverson of the OARA Branch

Location: Hyacinthia, Flora Island Region; Keos Assembly, Northern Region; OARA

The Hyacinth Cafe is a locally owned small business that's allowed to open multiple locations. This is rare for a Cyparissan business, but a special exception was made for Hyacinth Cafe as a means to show off local cuisine to foreign dignitaries.

The original Hyacinth Cafe started on Flora Island as a small coffee and tea shop. On diplomatic tours, the HDC officials loved the ambiance and drinks of the cafe so much that they insisted that another one be opened in Keos Assembly as a place to take international ambassadors. Once the Olympia Archipelago Regional Assembly was founded, plans for a cafe area were made to go into the central building. Cyparissa nominated Hyacinth Cafe to be the cafeteria of the Region.

Each Hyacinth Cafe, while under the same menu and branding, is owned by different people as to not create a monopoly.

Restaurant Forsythia

Ownership: Individual Ownership, Margo Crusini
Status: For-Profit Small Business
Location: Anthrodialu Bridge City

The Restaurant Forsythia is considered the highest level of dining experience in Cyparissa. They serve gourmet food made with fresh ingredients harvested right in the Central Region. Their signature dish is a coal roasted sinagrida served with asparagus and lemon.

Their logo features their namesake, the forsythia flower.

Hybrid Farms

Ownership: Individual Owner, Aspen Strategos/ The Department of Environment
Status: Nonprofit Small Business
Location: Olea, Northern Region

Hybrid Farms specializes in growing a unique kind of olive called the Cyparissan olive. It comes from the Cyparissan olive tree, which grows in the Western and Central Regions of the country. The tree was made by grafting mission olive branches onto a cypress tree. The result is a tree that produces more olives than normal. The Cyparissan olive has an earthy quality to it and is loved by the people of the nation.

The logo of Hybrid Farms is that of two trees being grafted together, the signature planting method of Hybrid Farms.

LOFT Vertical Farm

Owner: The LOFT Board of Directors/ The Department of Environment
Status: Nonprofit Small Business
Location: Anthrodialu Bridge City

The LOFT Vertical Farm are on the forefront of farming technology. Instead of traditional farming, they renovate old buildings to be able to produce the light and water necessary to grow crops indoors. This saves on space, time, and environmental risk.

There are many vertical farms in Anthrodialu Bridge City that aim to feed the people, but LOFT was the first and that is why they're being featured.

The LOFT Logo is that of their headquarters, lofted up amongst the clouds.

Kalos Glass Company

Ownership: The Huihyalos Family
Status: For-Profit Small Business
Location: Micromeria, Western Region

Micromeria Settlement sits on the board of the Western coastline and the Fennec Dunes. Given their location, they have access to the white sands of the beach and the red sands of the desert. They use this to their advantage by blending the sands together, heating it, and then blowing it to get a unique texture and color of glass that can only be found in Micromeria.

The Huihyalos family has been blowing glass for generations. They are considered experts on the subject and many new artisans come to them to learn their techniques.

The Logo of the Kalos Glass Company is that of the tongs used in glass making colored the pigment of the glass that's made.

Maenad Furniture Makers

Ownership: The Arcadius Family
Status: For-Profit Small Business
Location: Daffodil, Western Region

Though there's at least one craftsperson in each settlement, the Maenad furniture is considered to be the highest quality. Their location in Daffodil Settlement grants them to have access to several kinds of wood, allowing them to make very beautiful and intricate pieces of furniture.

Hercule Incorporated

Ownership: Individual Ownership, Poirot & Marbles/ Department of Infrastructure
Status: Nonprofit
Location: Multiple Station Locations, HQ in Anthrodialu Bridge City

Hercule Inc. was the first foreign company to take root in Cyparissa. They were allowed in the nation due to their promise to build an affordable and efficient transportation system that didn't rely on cars. Hercule Inc. runs the railroads that connect all Cyparissan Settlements.

Their name sake is based on that of Hercules; the famous Greek hero that completed the 12 labors and became a God. Their logo features a Nemean Lion, one of Hercules' labors, with the implication that not even a Nemean Lion can stop a Hercule Train.

Pegasus Stables

Ownership: The Pegasus Family
Status: For-Profit Company
Location: Multiple Locations, HQ in Hemlocksteed

Horses are the second most common form of transportation in Cyparissa, after trains. They are reliable, environmentally friendly, and affordable. Though not everyone can afford their own horse and cart, the Pegasus family provide a service where you can rent a horse and cart for a small amount of Javelins. They breed and raise their horses for travel and loyalty. They also allow for privately owned horses to be boarded at their stables for a fee. Almost ever Settlement in Cyparissa has at least one stable.

Cyparissa Travel Agency

Ownership: Travel Board of Directors/ Department of Communication
Status: For-Profit Company
Location: Locations in both Dianthus and Hemlocksteed

The Cyparissa Travel Agency is the place to come in and out of Cyparissa from international waters. The cruise ships that transport people in and out of the country run fully on electricity gathered from solar, current, and wind energy sources. People can take trips to any nation that allows visitors and meets Cyparissa's quality of life standard. Cyparissa accepts tourists from any country we're not currently at war with.

Temple of Delphi

Owner: The Department of Culture
Status: Nonprofit
Location: Delphi, Northern Region

The Temple of Delphi is a religious sect dedicated to the God Apollo. They worship him with rituals and celebrations, and in return the God grants the high priest or priestess with a divine prophecy. The high priest or priestess then advises the community, per the prophecy, on the best course of action.

The temple is a nonprofit organization formally owner by the Department of Culture. They're main industry is artwork, from sculptures to paintings, and pottery. They lead their settlement in cultural and religious prosperity.

Temple of Brauron

Owner: The Daughters of the Queen
Status: Nonprofit
Location: Brauron, Eastern Region

The Temple of Brauron was once the site of a famous queendom of the island. Since its disbandment, the castle and grounds have been converted into a temple for the Goddess Artemis. Followers of Artemis flock to the temple to pray and train in her ways. The temple priestesses teach archery, botany, zoology, and astrology.

The temple is owned by the Daughters of the Queen; a political group that seeks to restore female-empowerment to the nation. They lift women-led groups up and fund small businesses. Famously, Heca Corp is funded by the Daughters of the Queen.
